Dr. Xóchitl C. Chávez is the first tenure track Chicanx assistant professor in the Department of Music at the University of California, Riverside. As an Activist Scholar and musician, my research is centered on the practices of accompaniment and sincere collaborative intention. I ethically participate in making music /dance and document the process of Mexican Indigenous migrants, Latinos in the United States and their cross-border efforts toward maintaining cultural traditions. Her research areas are Ethnomusicology, Cultural Anthropology, Folklore, Gender Studies, Dance, Mexico, Indigenous, Migration, Latin American Studies, Chicano Studies, Museum Studies, Sociology, and Ethnic Studies.
